Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced 478 additional COVID-19 infections on December 12th, increasing the tally to 121,089 until press time.

The ministry reported 21 more fatalities, bringing the death toll to 6,898.

The country now has 104,710 total recoveries, after 211 new patients were discharged from quarantine hospitals, according to the statement.

Egypt has been registering daily cases of more than 400 since December 2nd.

The health ministry said that the country became the first African nation with a ready-to-go COVID-19 vaccine, after receiving the first shipment of China’s shots last week.
